DESCRIPTION:In our first webinar of the 2025 edition of the “Staying in Dialogue with China” webinar series (https://www.chinamacro.ch/webinar) which is this time dedicated to the theme of China’s next and upcoming 15th Five-Year-Plan (2026-2030)\, we look forward to talking to Prof. DA Wei\, Director of the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) and Professor of International Relations at Tsinghua University in Beijing. \nKey themes we want to discuss with Prof. DA include:\n• US-China interactions since Trump’s election and how Beijing sees Trump 2.0\n• China’s response to deal with Trump 2.0 strategically – domestically and in foreign affairs\n• Collaboration in helping to mediate in and settle Russia’s war with Ukraine\n• Possibility of strategic US-China dealmaking\, and what are the respective “gives”\n• Likely key political topics poised to bring continued or new frictions in bilateral relationship\n• Contours of the future US-China trade relationship and tech competition\n• Compatibility of “Make America great again” with China’s idea of national rejuvenation \nThis webinar will be moderated by Markus Herrmann Chen\, Co-Founder and Managing Director of CMG. Take the opportunity to listen in and ask your questions to Prof. DA. \nProf. DA Wei is the Director of the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University\, and professor in the department of International Relations\, at the School of Social Science\, Tsinghua University. Dr. DA’s research expertise covers China-US relations and US’ security and foreign policy. Dr. DA Wei has worked in China’s academic and policy community for more than 2 decades. \nPrior to current positions\, Dr. DA Wei was the assistant president of the University of International Relations (UIR\, 2017-2020) in Beijing\, as well as the Director of the Institute of American Studies\, at the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR\, 2013-2017). He has written hundreds of policy papers addressing the Chinese government\, and published dozens of academic papers on journals in China\, the US and other countries. \nDr. DA Wei earned his BA and MA from UIR and his Ph.D. from CICIR. He was a visiting Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council of the United States from 2006 to 2007\, and a visiting Senior Associate at SAIS\, Johns Hopkins University from 2008 to 2009. \nRegister
